Formations of Christianity

Formations

There are over 30,000 Christian churches today. Some of them refer to themselves as “non-denominational. Others are denominational in that they can trace their beginnings back to a time when an individual or group of individuals declared their beliefs in objection to the original Christian church. The original church was formed by Christ himself and is documented in the Bible. Matthew, Chapter 16, verse 18: “And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” Indeed satan has not prevailed against it however the attack has continued from the beginning until this moment.

The original church began to call itself “Catholic” which means universal about 100 AD. The Catholic Church is the original church founded by Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church has not, in over 2000 years declared itself in objection to itself. Therefore it was and is the only church founded directly by Jesus Christ. All other denominations and non-denominations have built themselves around the Catholic Church.

This post begins to look at the formation of Christianity in the world today. Future posts will examine the differences in different churches.

I have forever fell in love with the beauty of the church’s and love basking among the symbols and tributes that decor their walls and alters. I have come to learn that everything in the church represents something of the faith in Jesus Christ. I am very excited to read your future posts about the differences in the different churches.
